After a 2 years hiatus, mountain bike racing returned to the Canmore Nordic Centre over the weekend and our amazing JCC riders were all over the podiums!
Most impressive of all - 17 year old junior Jenaya Francis threw down against a deep and experienced field of ladies in the Open women's category to vie for the provincial title.
Jenaya stood up, sprinted away at the whistle, and never looked back. Congratulations to our latest provincial champion who crushed the field by nearly 8 minutes!
Jenaya's brother Graham also had a dominant ride in the U15 boys category, riding away from the field and coming home with about a minute to spare! In the afternoon he doubled up, winning the Enduro race. Great job Graham! Congrats!
In the Open Men's category, Ben Damant overcame an early mechanical and rode to a very impressive 6th place. Watch out for Ben - the kid's on form!
During Sunday's 6 hour XC marathon, Ben was joined by his bro Jacob on the top step of the Open Men's team event, and Jenaya and Graham finished second in the Junior team event.
