2013 Fitness Tax Credit receipts have been emailed to LAMP, Sprockid, and Junior members that were born in 1997 or later. Please contact the Juventus Membership Coordinator if you did not receive an expected credit.
What really cold weather can lead to . . .
Well, apparently when the weather gets extremely cold, Juventus feels the need to get on that ride going nowhere. The wind chill took temps outside somewhere south of -40C/F, but inside rollers and trainers were humming. We had the CT room at capacity and a full contingent of 20+ enjoying a Sunday morning rollerfestivus. Hang in there - supposedly the weather is about to warm up and +1C will feel tropical. Next weekend the clocks go ahead and the temp will increase. Get ready for clear roads and a visible blue line!

Countdown to Junior Track Pan Am Trials!
We have at least two juniors, Evan Burtnik and Anna Talman, in the process of preparing for the Junior Track Pan Am Trials to be held in Los Angeles on April 5th and 6th. Cycling Canada's Time Standards for this event are very challenging and motivating; keep up the great work Juniors!
Check out the feature article on Juventus in Canadian Cycling Magazine.
The latest edition of Canadian Cycling Magazine highlights some of what our club is all about. The article is on page 27. I wish I could just put up the article here, but for now there is the online edition or the news stand copy. Keep your eye on the bulletin board because it may show up there.
6 spots left in LAMP!
If you are considering riding with LAMP this year . . . the countdown is on! You had better decide soon or you may be sad. Register now.

Great experience for Juventus CXers
Mason Burtnik, Sean Germaine, and Connor Wilson recently competed in the World Junior/U23 CX Championships in Hoogerheide, Netherlands. Be sure to ask them all about the experience and congratulate them for giving the competition their very best efforts. Well done Juventus!
Juniors spring break camp . . .
Hey Juniors, make sure to let Ken know if you will be going to spring break camp. Details are on your news page.
Best way to add spinach, parsley, cilantro, kale and other greens.
So, most of you probably know this already, but . . . I have finally figured out that for the best in taste and texture, you should add fresh greens at the end of cooking. For example if I am making a pasta topping or maybe an egg thing, I get my greens ready to go and about 30 seconds before I take topping or thing off the stove, I fold in the greens. Delightful! And so much more pleasant to look at when served.
LAMP has 10 spots left for 2014!
The popularity of LAMP continues. Check out the LAMP page to find out what it is all about.
Track rolling at 9 SHARP Jan.26. We have to be finished by 11!
There are excellent reasons for this. Be riding at 9 and find out. (Don't get your hopes up because there isn't any ice cream or anything like that)
Equipment manager still looking for your input . . .
James continues to monitor his email, adjust his order forms, and ensure Juventus gets what the club needs. What do you think that should be ? Let him know.

An Open Letter
Dear Juventus Road Cyclists
I am an unknown "poseur" member that trained at the club house on Tuesday and Thursday evenings last year (jan-march) I hung out at the back over by the weight room and sweated on my Surly. I am neither a category class rider nor particularly note worthy in my cycling accomplishments. I did however teach with Mr. Adamson which should illustrate my mental toughness.
This year I find myself living in Adelaide. Indeed I am a lone Canadian rider surrounded and passed by thousands of rabbit cyclists. I swear as God as my witness more "kit" is sold in this city than anywhere in the known universe.
Obviously you must know the Tour Down Under is currently in full swing. Thus, based upon your cycling interest you may like to see what I have been writing and taking photo s off should you like to see something less polished than say Cycling News or Manual for Speed.

Regardless if this "little missive" finds its way to your weekly member update page, (or not) you might like to put Adelaide on your bucket list as this is ground zero for all things road. I am certain when I state that: "there isn't a Roadie that wouldn't like this place! You will think you died and went to heaven."
Yours in Cycling,
Jim Skillings

Ongoing LAMP registration a great opportunity for percentage practice.
Registration for LAMP has been busy, and because of that calculation of the percent of spots still open continually gives a reduced number. For example, today there are only 38% of LAMP spots still available. Sign up now to avoid disappointment.
Master's are in full swing Tuesdays and Thursdays.
It is time to join in and get ready for the upcoming race season. Bruce's spin sessions are a great way to prepare for the not too distant Spring Series and all the events to come. Come on out tonight! Set up at 6:00 pm and riding at 6:30 pm.
Burnaby 4 Day and Juventus collects 2 Omnium winner's jerseys!
Evan Burtnik and Stefan Ritter returned from a camp and races in Burnaby with a winner's jersey each. Both competed in the Burnaby 4 Day Omnium event - Stefan in Youth men, and Evan in the B's. Word has it that the racing was intense; Stefan honed his indoor track skills and Evan gave the usually dominant riders something to think about.
Fantastic turnout for January start up!
It's going to be a big year for Juventus cycling if the turn out this week for Masters, Juniors and Track is any indication. Wow! The clubhouse was buzzing with trainers and rollers and we may have to install a new drain to handle all the sweat pouring off everyone.
Make sure you take the time to join the club for 2014!
