Juventus members, young (well >17 years) and not as young, novice and experienced, and across our cycling disciplines, ensured all shifts were covered in professional fashion. A sincere thank you to all who came out for the new longer hours on a beautiful summer day or evening. Your commitment means that the programs Juventus supports can continue into the future.
Our LAMP kids were at the Alberta Research Park course this past Tuesday for a night of training in the fine art of Criterium racing. The group learned how to hold a line, sprint out of corners, and hammer the backstretch.
And they ran a few 2-lap and 5-lap races for good measure. An awesome evening with the next generation of Cat 1 racers!
Save the date - Sunday Aug 10 noon - 4 pm for the LAMP Cup. Racing, BBQ, prizes and more!
Here is the tech guide for both.
Here is the sign up. You were emailed a promo code.
No registration is necessary.
We need your time and expertise. The Devon GP Road Race is this Sunday (22-Jun-2014) but we're still short a few volunteers to make it happen. Please contact Bruce or myself if you wish to volunteer.

Some of you have indicated on your membership form that you are able to volunteer for the Devon Grand Prix on June 22, 2014. First, a big thanks in advance for signing up. These events are a lot of work for all involved and without your volunteer commitment we wouldn't be able to run such events. Second, we really need you to fill out the Doodle poll I sent out yesterday. You can chose between marshalling or driving. Finally, those who didn't indicate their wish to volunteer for this event can still do so. You can contact myself or Bruce Copeland.
Thanks

Congratulations to Juventus rider Evan Burtnik, who has been selected to the Junior National Track Team going to Seoul, South Korea in August. Evan has worked extremely hard to make this happen. Well done!
Here are the details from the announcement:
CANADA TO SEND FIVE RIDERS TO UCI TRACK JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Small Canadian team to focus on Men’s Team Pursuit and Men Omnium
(Ottawa, ON – June 10, 2014) Cycling Canada is pleased to announce its selections for the 2014 UCI Track Junior World Championships, scheduled to take place in Seoul, South Korea, from August 8 to 12 2014.
The main objective of the Junior World Track Championships is to provide a developmental opportunity to a competitive group of identified Canadian track cyclists. The Canadian group has the potential to finish with a Top 8 performance in the Team Pursuit.
As a feeder into the Elite Track Program, these World Championships are a crucial step in an athletes’ developmental pathway. In 2014, the primary focus remains tightly aligned with those of the Elite Track Program, which in this case will be the Team Pursuit and Omnium: the two track endurance presented at the Olympic Games.

JUNIOR MEN
Evan BURTNIK (17, Edmonton, AB) [Men’s Team Pursuit]
Connor BYWAY (16, Ottawa, ON) [Men’s Team Pursuit]
Alexander COWAN (17, Calgary, AB) [Men’s Team Pursuit]
Adam JAMIESON (18, Barrie, ON) [Men’s Team Pursuit]
Bayley SIMPSON (16, Lindsay, ON) [Men’s Team Pursuit]
Wow, so riding happening all over the place. At the Organ Grinder some great team riding by the McGill girls under the hilariously named "Dad made us do it" team. Then a close top 10 men's placing for "Almost Legal" Sean Germaine. More team work by Adam and Micheal, the Staffords son and pop team "new and used" as well as Ken and Sam.
Juniors and some Masters are busy training, racing and getting ready for ITT's and the Junior Road Championships in Quebec at the beginning of July. Recently, Anna and Evan got in some great training and racing on some very hilly terrain with a Canada development camp in the eastern US.
U23's are preparing for Elite Road Nationals with those races in Lac Megantic the end of June.
Track action continues weekly with both training and Track League!, opportunistic 10 milers and events like the intense 150 held on Sunday morning. Now that was hot! (not talking about the weather here).
The masters are out riding the majority of evenings and weekend mornings - doing hill repeats, or intervals, or long rides, or TT work and in spite of the weather will not be deterred. With Pigeon Lake cancelled, it will be fun to see how everyone performs at the next race, as most are ready to test fitness levels.
LAMP and Sprockids are everywhere. It is fantastic to see their bike handling skills improving and to watch how fast they are.
Keep riding Juventus!
The Sprockids and LAMP kids joined forces with the Devon BEARS program to take over the Hinton Bike Park. Just over 100 Sprockids, LAMP kids, BEARS, coaches, parents, and siblings headed to Hinton for a day of singletrack, jumps, bumps, and Flow Master! Photos to follow soon.

Juventus Sprockids and Devon BEARS. Great friends riding together.
The crew from Edmonton and Devon quickly saturated almost every area of the park with kids and bikes.
